Giant sinkhole scares Chitravathi river shore dwellers

The villagers of Lakhumpalli of Putluru mandal in Anantapur district have spent sleepless night on Thursday as a giant sinkhole was formed near the shore of Chitravathi river.

The sinkhole, created quite a sensation and made hundreds of people throng the spot. Shocked villagers are terrified as the sinkhole is constantly widening.

The reason for the hole is unclear. Geologists have reached the spot and have started examining the phenomenon.
