GHMC polls: BJP MLA slams party, another MLA's car attacked
The GHMC poll battle saw all political parties fighting their internal battles. Dissidence, anger over denial of ticket and seat adjustment blues are dogging all major parties.
The BJP suffered major setbacks when former MLA Prem Singh Rathod quit the party protesting against denial of tickets to his followers. Party's present MLA Raja Singh too expressed anger over not taking into consideration the list of candidates submitted by him. He said the selection of the candidates was faulty. BJP's Rangareddy Urban chief Meesala Chandraiah has also resigned from the BJP over distribution of tickets in Rangareddy Urban area. Angry party workers attacked BJP's Uppal MLA and broke the windows of his car.
A large number of BJP dissidents staged a dharna in front of the party office over ticket distribution and seat adjustment with the TDP.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the offices of the TRS, TDP and the Congress. At Gandhi Bhavan, Koshore Goud of Kurmaguda, a Congress ticket aspirant tried to set self ablaze. On Wednesday, two rival aspirants from the Congress - both women - got into fisticuffs.
Though the deadline for withdrawal of nominations has expired, many rebel candidates remained defiant. Due to this the official candidates are facing tough times handling dissidence.
