GHMC Collects Rs363 Cr In Property Tax, Exceeds Previous Record

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) collected a whopping Rs363 crore as property tax under the ‘Early Bird scheme’. The scheme was from April 1 to 30 and offered five percent rebate on the tax to building owners. Interestingly, the civic body surpassed its own previous record which collected Rs213 crore in 2016.

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said, "Of total 14 lakh tax payers about 5.44 lakh paid taxes and nearly one lakh paid through online."

To facilitate the payment process on the last day, the Citizen Service Centers - Mee Seva and e-Seva centers- functioned till Sunday midnight. Khairthabad 10 B circle topped the chart with Rs 47.70 crore collections, followed by Serilingampally circle, which collected Rs 31 crore.
