Gannavaram to be gateway to Amaravathi - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: Gannavaram town will soon become gateway to the upcoming capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravathi. A huge structure called “Gateway” will be built close to Gannnavaram Airport. A six-lane highway will also be laid connecting gateway to “Downtown Amaravathi’’.

The gateway will be a major attraction en route to airport.

The Singapore government is also planning for an ‘Iconic Bridge’ between gateway and the six-lane highway. The model of the bridge was presented in the ``Seed City’’ plan to the Andhra Pradesh Government.

As per plan, three bridges will be built on the Krishna River.
Since the simultaneous construction of all the three bridges is not possible, the bridge on the Vijayawada highway will be built first. Three ring roads have also been proposed for the city.

In addition bypass roads for the NH9 and NH5, which pass through the west of Krishna-Guntur districts, are also to be laid.
