146 kg ganja has been seized by the police
Rajamahendravaram: Eight persons were arrested after 146 kg ganja worth about Rs 7.30 lakh was seized from their possession in East Godavari district.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team on Saturday intercepted two cars near GIET College in Rajanagaram area and found 146 kg ganja packed in small packets inside the vehicles.
The ganja was being transported from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad and from there the peddlers intended to take it to New Delhi for sale
The packets, each carrying about 2 kg of the contraband, Rs 12,200 cash, 12 mobiles phones and the two cars were seized by the police.
The eight persons inside the two cars were also arrested. The ganja was being transported from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad and from there the peddlers intended to take it to New Delhi for sale.
The seized ganja has a market value of about Rs 7.30 lakh, police officials said. A case has been registered and those arrested have been remanded in judicial custody.
