Gang rape of young woman shakes Rajahmundry

In a tragic incident, a young woman was allegedly raped by three men in Morampudi village of the Rajahmundry district in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who attended a ceremony at her relative's house, was traveling in an auto to Morampudi along with his uncle at 2 PM. After traveling for a short distance two of the auto driver's friends got into the auto and shoved her uncle from the auto.  They then sped away towards an isolated, forested area and gang-raped her.

The woman's uncle immediately reported the incident to the police, who found the victim in a traumatized condition. However, the three offenders  fled from the spot. The police rushed the victim to a hospital and are on the lookout for the auto driver and his two accomplices.
