Ganesh Idol Immersion to Continue Till Friday Noon: DGP Anurag Sharma
Hyderabad: The Ganesh idol immersion programme in the twin cities is expected to continue till Friday afternoon, Telangana state DGP Anurag
Sharma said.
Addressing the media on Thursday, he said the Khairtabad Ganesh idol was immersed on Thursday afternoon taking the total number of idols
immersed to 1,248 idols by evening. Another 5,000 idols are expected to be immersed throughout Thursday night, he said and added that the
number is in addition to the idols that were diverted to smaller lakes in the outskirts of the city.
The total number of idols installed during this festive season is 11,074, including several that were diverted to lakes in and outside the city limits.

season is 11,074, Anurag Sharma said while explaining that senior police officials including commissioner Mahender Reddy were continuously monitoring and keeping tabs on the entire
immersion programme at Tank Bund from the Control and Command centre at his office.
“For this purpose a network of 12,000 CCTVs and
van-mounted cameras were set up in various parts of the city and 25,000 police personnel from the state and also from neighbouring Andhra
Pradesh and Chattisgarh have been drawn to ensure law and order during the event,” he said.
