The menace has been occurring from many years but BMC took action against them this year

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken stern action against the Ganpati Pandals for digging up roads and failing to plug them during the festival. The noted Lalbaugcha Raja Ganapati Pandal was fined Rs4.86 lakh for causing damage to the roads. Another popular one from Lalbag area Ganesh Galli was also fined of Rs4.14 lakh.

The menace has been occurring from many years but BMC took action against them this year. The pandals didn’t comply with the order even after the BMC and police asked him them to refill the dug up roads.

Here's the list of pandals that have been asked to pay fine:

Chinchpokli Utsav Mandal: 34 potholes; Rs68,000

Balgopal Mandal, Currey Road: 24 potholes, Rs48,000

Parel, Nare Park Ganeshotsav Mandal: Potholes 23; Rs46,000

Parel Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal: Potholes: 21; Rs42,000

Lal Maidan Ganesh Utsav Mandal, Parel: Potholes 17; Rs34,000

Kalachowki Jijamatnagar Ganeshotsav Mandal: Potholes 15; Rs30,000
