Funeral claims seven people in YSR district

At least seven people who went to bid the final goodbye to their neighbor died along with him  and 15 others were injured when the roof of a house collapsed at Nawabpet village of Mylavaram mandal in YSR district on Tuesday afternoon. 

To pay their last respects to the man who died, hundreds of people convened at his place. As there was no space in his house, visitors decided to go to the top of another house, in front of the deceased's residence, to get a last glimpse of the body. Unable to take the weight of so many people, that house caved in and death was instant for five persons and several were trapped under the debris. 

Soon neighbors managed to pull trapped people out and shift them to a nearby hospital.   The tragedy plunged the village into grief.   

The heavy rains had also rendered the house unstable, leading to the collapse.
