Frustrated Over Unsettled Life, HCU Scholar Jumps Off Apartment To Death
Hyderabad: A 45-year-old scholar of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of an apartment at Chandanagar on Saturday.
Vishal Tandon, a native of Punjab was residing at Chandanagar on the 14th floor of the 18-storied Aparna Sarovar apartments. On Saturday he locked his door from outside and jumped from the balcony of the building. Before taking the extreme step, he sent an email to his sister Geetika about his decision to end life as he was not settled in life.
According to police, Vishal was staying alone as his mother went to Mumbai to see her daughter Geetika. He committed suicide due to health problems and his failure to secure a job. However, after seeing his brother's mail, Geetika pinged one of Vishal's friends who resides in a nearby flat. By the time he reached the house, he saw his friend lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor.
Vishal was doing research on gender studies at the university for the past two years.
A case of suicide was registered and the body was sent for post-mortem.
