Freak Electric Chair Accident at Cinema Hall Kills Movie Buff

Birmingham: In a shocking incident, a man's head was crushed in an electric chair at Vue Cinema Hall in the city when he tried to retrieve his cellphone, which had fallen between the chairs. The incident was reported on March 9.

The man had gone to the Vue cinema hall with his wife, where he got two chairs in the VIP section of the hall. The accident occurred when he accidentally dropped his phone down and bent down to collect it. The chair's position changed as soon as the man bent down and crushed his head, following which he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The man's wife and the theater staff pulled him out of the chair and shifted him to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries on March 16.

"He was stuck in the chair. His wife and the staff tried to pull him out but they couldn't. The theater staff then broke the leg of the chair and dragged him," a witness said.

A probe has been launched into the incident.
