Fraudster Held For Duping People Of Rs8 Crore In 5 Years
Hyderabad: A 42-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for duping people to the tune of Rs8 crore over the last five years by promising them government jobs and admissions in medical colleges.
Chaitanyapuri police said that accused K. Srinivas had been cheating people with various plans since 2012. Few years ago, Srinivas befriended Kalpana Reddy, a social worker. Srinivas along with Kalpana and her friend Suresh started real estate business putting up office at Gandhi Nagar. Srinivas furnished fake PG degree claiming to be a social worker and he became organizing secretary of Congress in Malkajgiri constituency.
Srinivas had started collecting money from gullible people by claiming that he would settle land disputes using his "political clout".
"After collecting money, Srinivas stopped responding. He used to issue dud cheques and fake promissory notes to people and avoided refunding," Chaitanyapuri police station Inspector G. Guru Raghvendra said. The official also added they had also received complaints against Srinivas regarding cheque bounce. The accused has been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
