Four Family Members Die After Being Knocked Down By Tipper

Hyderabad: Four members of a family died, while two others sustained injuries after a tipper-lorry driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, hit their stationary two-wheeler here on Thursday night.

The deceased include three children, police said. The deceased identified as 35-year-old Md.Azhar, 7-year-old Md.Aman, 5-year-old Arshiya sultana and 3-year-old Alina sultana were shifted to a local hospital. Two others, Imrana sultana & Atiya sultana were also brought to the hospital in a serious condition. The mishap occurred under Karkhana police station limits at around 10.15 pm when Azhar along with his wife and children was proceeding to attend a marriage at Tirumulgherry, Inspector Y Nageswar Rao said.

According to police, a heavy vehicle driven at a high speed and in a rash manner dashed against Azhar's bike when he had stopped for enquiring the address of the function hall resulting in the death of four. The injured were later admitted to a hospital, police said.

The driver K Advaiah, who was allegedly driving the vehicle under the influence of liquor was today arrested, police said.
