Former Miss Andhra attempts suicide

Khammam: Former miss Andhra Pradesh on Thursday attempted to commit suicide by pouring kersone on herself in Khammam.

Narla Vijayalakshmi, former miss Andnra Pradesh tried to set herself on fire near Khammam highway. She was upset because of property disputes with her brother Srinivas Rao and accused the police of inaction.

Lakshmi's parents died recently after a prolonged illness.  After her parents death, the  disputes became serious. Despite repeated complaints, the police did nothing, she said. On Wednesday night Srinivas's friends threatened her at Khammam residence. Unable to bare the pressure, she attempted suicide on Thursday evening. However, onlookers prevented her from committing suicide. The police shifted her to her home later.
Vijayalakshmi is one of the first acid victims in the state and has been fighting the case against the attackers.
