Film Review: Satamanam Bhavathi
Hero Sharwanand is back after ‘Express Raja’ with another family entertainer ‘Satamanam Bhavati’ this Sankranthi. This Dil Raju production has a delectable cast, including beautiful Anupama Parameshwaran, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj and Naresh.
Storyline
Quintessential village guy Raju (Sharwanand) lives with his grandpa Raju Garu (Prakash Raju) in Atreyapuram. Raju Garu feels a void in life as his children stay aboad. So, he hatches a plan to make his children come home for Sankranthi. But, their arrival upsets Raju Garu's wife (Jayasudha). Why Rajugaru wants his kids to come home and why that upsets Jayasudha? What differences crop up between the family members? You''ll know the answers to all these questions when you watch the movie.
Positives
The film is neat, clean and the plot is simple and non-contrived. That's the biggest asset. The actors do their jobs quite naturally. Sharwanand once again comes up with a nuanced performance. He is subtle yet strong, restrained yet riveting.
Anupama got a meaty role and looks great. Her demeanor is pleasing and expressions cute. She is a perfect foil for energetic Sharwa. Prakash Raj, Jayasudha and Naresh do full justice to their roles.
Flaws
On the flip side, the storyline is wafer thin and the film relies more on emotions. The narration at places is jarring and slow. As for comedy scenes, it would have been better if they weren't there.
Crew
Mickey J Meyer is fast emerging the first choice for family entertainers and he churns out lilting numbers. The photography section adds rich colour to the film. These two elevate the film. The editing could have been more sleek. The production values are good.
Director Satish Vegesna doesn't look like a debutant. He manages to cobble up a decent film. Family bonding and strength of relations need a deeper understanding. Satish displays that to the full.
Conclusion
‘Satamanam Bhavati’ is a clean and complete family entertainer/ Despite the routine content and normal treatment, the film is elevated by superb performances.
Verdict:
Good product.... But, may we say, conditions apply.
