Fidaa Is For Pawan Kalyan, Not For Varun Tej, Confesses Sekhar Kammula 

Fidaa has offered a much needed relief to director Sekhar Kammula, who highlighted the Telangana dialect in the movie. The movie featuring Varuntej and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles gave sufficient screen space and characterization to the actress.

In an interview to a vernacular media, Sekhar Kammula said after drafting the script, he first narrated the story to Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu. However, Mahesh politely denied the offer. Sekhar had to team up with hero Varun Tej.

But, initially the script was penned by keeping power star Pawan Kalyan in view. He admitted that producer Dil Raju suggested hero Varun Tej's name after the project was finalized.

Sekhar Kammula said that his team waited a long time for Sai Pallavi as she was pursuing her medicine.

Fidaa running into its third week, has so far grossed Rs60 crore with packed houses. With the actress mouthing dialogues in Telangana yaasa (accent), the movie garnered much response from the Telugu people and Telangana in particular. With this, the Telangana language has entered the mainstream cinema.
