FCI official convicted in disproportionate case, 3 years jail

Visakhapatnam: A CBI court convicted a Food Corporation of India official in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced him to three-year imprisonment on Monday.

Second Additional Special Judge for CBI cases, G. Sunitha, found Syed Mahaboob Rahman, the then Manager (Quality Control) posted at Cheepurupalli in Vizianagaram district, guilty of possession of movable and immovable assets which were found to be 127 percent more at Rs 4,41,981, than known sources of his income, CBI SP R. Gopalakrishna Rao said in a release.

The court found Rahman guilty under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him. Rahman had registered these assets on his name and his kin during his stint as the manager from January 1, 2007 and March 19, 2008.
