Farmer Collapses In RDO Office Fearing Forceful Land Acquisition By Government
Anantapur: In a tragic incident a farmer died at the RDO office in Penukonda on Thursday fearing that his lands will be forcefully taken away by the state government.
The farmer Balu Naik (50) came to the RDO office along with several farmers of Penukonda and adjoining villages. A public meeting of farmers and land owners was called by the RDO to state that the government sought 2000 acres to setup industries in the district. About 600 acres were already acquired and the meeting aimed to inform the farmers about the requirement for the remaining 1400 acres. However, while the meeting was underway Balu suddenly collapsed and later died while being shifted to the hospital.
According to his family members, Balu had stated several times in the recent past that his lands might be forcefully taken away by the government.
