Family Of Youth Shot In Chicago Gets US Visa

Hyderabad Student Mohammad Akbar, who was shot by unknown assailants in Chicago, is battling for his life at a hospital in Illinois. His parents were granted visas to fly to the US to look after their son, and will be travelling to the US in the next two days.

The parents thanked the chief minister K. Chandra Shekar Rao and the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for their help and speeding up the process. It may be recalled that External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj spoke to the Indian Consul General in Chicago, Neeta Bhushan and sought a report on the incident. Neeta visited the Masonic hospital and reported that the condition of the 30-year-old was stable. Sushma Swaraj was prompt to acknowledge the Consul General's response:

"Neeta Bhushan - Thank you for being with there. As requested, his parents and brother have been granted US visa today. They will join him soon," Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

Mohammad Akbar was shot by unidentified assailants on Saturday near Albany Park when he was moving towards his car in a parking area.
