Fake Cop Held For Collecting Rs10 Lakh By Promising Jobs In Police Department
Hyderabad: A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday for posing as a police officer and collected money from many people on promise to get them jobs in the police department.
The accused Agolopu Sridhar Goud is staying at Padmarao Nagar with his wife Nandini. Nandini is a frequent visitor to Kiran Kumar's house, who is one of the victims. She is also a customer of Kiran's wife Sandhya, who sells sarees at home. Nandini told Sandhya that her husband works in police department and has good contacts with higher officials.
On believing her words, Sandhya told Nandini that her son-in-law Naresh appeared for constable exam and is waiting for the results. She further asked Nandini to help him pass in the exam with Sridhar's influence. Later, Sridhar demanded Rs5 lakh for getting Naresh the job.
Naresh trusted him as Sridhar would always appear in police dress with a revolver in his hand. Two months after depositing the amount into his account, the victims asked him about the job. The accused said that the state government stopped the recruitment of 300 constables as there is a pending case in the court.
Few days after, Sridhar again called Naresh to his home and informed that there is a vacancy in the Director General of Police office. He showed them some papers with the Chief Minister's signature. He again demanded Rs5 lakh for the job. After receiving the amount, Sridhar gave Naresh a fake appointment letter with the joining date as August 1, 2018.
However, the victims realized they were cheated as the accused kept making excuses. They lodged a complaint against him with the police, who took him into custody.
The police also seized the fake uniform, a revolver, a pistol, a laptop, a Swift car, Rs4 lakh cash, a best service award memento from Sridhar's house.
