However, no casualties have so far been reported. It is learnt that the explosion occurred in the early hours of Thursday and the cause of the fire is unknown. Some of the air passengers also posted photographs of explosion in the social media.
According to some media reports, the Israeli air raids have targeted Damascus airport. Photos emerged in some sections of media show burning fuel or gas at the airport.
Ever since the uprising in 2011, Damascus, capital city of tension-gripped Syria, has been burning with series of explosions and bombs killing scores of civilians.
