Ex-minister Sankar Rao avoids CID questioning
Former Minister P Shankar Rao turned down the CID notice, which ordered him to attend for a questioning in conection with the Greenfield land scam.
CID on Saturday served notices to the Congress MLA asking him appear before it.
However, Shankar Rao has written a letter to the agency stating that he was not able to come for the investigation citing health problems. His daughter Sushmitha handed over the letter to CID officials in the afternoon.
Shankar Rao was discharged from the Banjara Hills Care Hospital on Wednesday after 27 days of hospitalisation.
It may be recalled that Shankar Rao has been accused of land-grabbing by residents of Greenfields Colony in Kannajiguda, in Old Alwal under Malkjagiri Mandal of Ranga Reddy district. More than 800 plots have been registered in over 60 acres of land, which Shankar Rao and his brother Dayanand claimed as owners.
Sankara rao was taken into custody for questioning on January 31 in connection with the case. He had been shifted to Neredmet police station, where he complained of chest pain and admitted to Care hospital.
