Hyderabad: Chikkadpally police on Sunday registered a case against former minister D. Sridhar Babu and four of his aides for hatching a conspiracy to implicate a TRS leader in a Ganja case. Two of the accused have been taken into custody while the other two were absconding.

Sridhar Babu, a Congress leader who represented Manthani constituency and worked as civil supplies minister before the formation Telangana state, will be arrested after further investigation, police said.

TRS leader Kishan Reddy lodged a complaint with the police stating that Sridhar Babu and a local Congress leader in his constituency in Peddapally district hatched a plan to put 10kg of Ganja in his house and call police to get him arrested.

In an audio tape submitted by Kishan Reddy as an evidence to support his claim, Sudarshan, an ex-sarpnch of Odelu village, called the ex-minister to inform him that he was going to put 10kg Ganja in Kishan's house. Sudarshan asked Sridhar to make all arrangements for Kishan's arrest and the latter agreed to do so. The phone conversation is purported to have taken place on Vinayaka Chaviti as mentioned by the caller.

Their plan was to put the Ganja stealthily in Kishan's house and then call police to inform that he was peddling Ganja. Sridhar and Kishan have been political rivals for some time and this way the Congress leader wanted to get rid of the TRS leader before the next general elections, the complainant said.
