A mentally unsound retired Army officer went on a rampage, bludgeoning six persons to death in an orgy of death that lasted over two hours. The incident in Haryana's Pawal district, has sent shock waves.

Identified as Naresh Dhankhad (45), went berserk taking advantage of low visibility due dense fog on Tuesday morning. His first victim was a woman named Anjum who was an attendant of a person admitted in the ICU of the hospital. She was sleeping on the second floor where the accused managed to gain entry. The incident was caught on the CCTV camera. Then he went to another place and killed three persons. A little further, he killed two more people by smashing their heads. The police arrested him by 7 AM, while he was searching for his seventh victim. Dhankhad tried to resist arrest and even assaulted the policemen before being overpowered.

Dharkhad appeared to be mentally ill and highly aggressive. Preliminary investigations have revealed that he had strained relations with his wife and two children. Dhankhad got married 10 years ago and separated from his wife four years later.
