ESL Narasimhan takes oath as the first Governor of Telangana
June 2 not only saw the coronation of the new chief minister, K Chandrasekhara Rao, but the state also got itself a governor in form of Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan.
Narasimhan,67, a former Chief of Intelligence Bureau, saw Andhra Pradesh and Telangana through the tumultuous phase of bifurcation. The 67-year-old former police officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre retired as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau in 2006 and was appointed the governor of Chhattisgarh in 2007 and of Andhra Pradesh in 2009. He served in the ministry of External Affairs and became the first secretary in the Moscow Embassy.
The Chief Justice of High Court administered the oath to Narasimhan before TRS chief KCR’s swearing-in-ceremony as Chief Minister of the country's 29th state, which is scheduled for 8.15 am. Narasimhan will administer oath of office and secrecy to K. Chandrasekhara Rao as Telangana first's chief minister.
