SonyLIV Extends Its Digital Footprint In South India, Now In Telugu

Hyderabad: SonyLIV today launched its services in Telugu to localise the entertainment experience for its viewers. Uday Sodhi, Business Head Digital, Sony Pictures Networks India, was present with Telugu industry’s popular faces Jagapathi Babu, Sharath Marar, Swapna Dutt and NIharika Konidala to announce the huge portfolio of Telugu content that goes live on SonyLIV this June.

Headlining the announcement was the launch of SonyLIV’s first ever Telugu original - Bhajana Batch. Directed by Maruthi who has acclaimed hits like Bhale Magadivoy, Mahabubhavudu and Prema Katha Chatham to his credit, the show is a laugh riot starring Posani Krishna Mural and Getup Seenu. Adding onto SonyLIV’s existing catalogue of 85 originals, Bhajana Batch will be up for viewing this June.

SonyLIV’s Telugu slate also includes a string of diverse titles like ‘They call him Animal’, ArthaSastram– First political drama in regional space and Muddugare Yashoda. Also in the pipeline isMy Marappu,the first show to be shot completely in USA.Sony Pictures Network’s top 20 shows, a host of movies and TVF originals like Pitchers, Tripling and Permanent Roommateswill also be updated in Telugu for inducing a relevant and relatable viewing habit.SonyLIV will also be remaking the most popular IP of the network in Telugu. Crime Patrol, one of the longest running shows of the network will be remade on digital comprising of locally relevant stories and characters.

SonyLIV also has an extensive library of highly rated and award winning English shows like The Good Doctor, Counterpart, Victoria, The Handmaid’s Tale and more for the South markets. Football enthusiasts can now watch their favourite game on SonyLIV with Telugu commentary.

The Telugu content library will be available under premium subscription of Rs 99/- per month and Rs 499/- per year along with a sachet pack of 29 for 7 days. Currently, SonyLIV has existing libraries in Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati and is also announcing a Tamil launch tomorrow.
