Tollywood director Kodi Ramakrishna who was known for movies like Arundathi and Anji passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was recently rushed to the hospital recently after he complained of breathlessness. He was put on life support and monitored by a battery of doctors including general physician, neurology and cardiologist.
Kodi Ramakrishna hailed from Palakole in West Godavari district and was groomed by eminent director, Dasari Narayana Rao. He left his own distinct stamp on the movies he took up. A pall of sadness descended on Tollywood as news of Kodi Ramakrishna’s death spread through industry circles. Tollywood greats are streaming in to have a last glimpse of the director’s body. Megastar Chiranjeevi and producer Allu Arvind visited the director’s residence and their respects to the departed soul. Chiranjeevi and Kodi Ramakrishna came together for the first time in Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya.
In a career spanning three decades, Kodi Ramakrishna has directed about 100 films across genres. His film making style has been hailed by critics and movie buffs alike. He was honoured with the Raghupathi Venkaiah award in 2012. Kodi Ramakrishna introduced stars like Suman and Bhanuchander to the silver screen.
Kodi Ramakrishna had an array of hits to his credit apart from Anji and Arundhati, including, Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayya, Aahuthi, Mangamma Gari Manavadu, Thalambralu, Bharatamlo Bala Chandrudu, Muddula Mavayya, Maa Aavida Collector, Pelli, Dongaata, Ankusham, Bharat Bandh, Gudachari No.1, Gudachari 117, Devi, Devullu and Devi Putrudu.
