The most common sentiment that seems to echoing is that the film is not NTR story, it's rather glorification of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

While no one can question Nandamuri Balakrishna's intention to make a biopic based on his father, the legendary NTR, he does little justice to factual incidents in the iconic actor turned politician's life. The first part of the biopic, NTR Kathanayakudu was released on January-9 and was roundly slammed by critics and audiences on social media. Balayya became the butt of jokes for turning the film into a propaganda tool, without projecting the human side of his father's life and personality. The film failed to meet audience expectations and bombed at the box office. The makers pinned hopes on the sequel, ' NTR Mahanayakudu' hoping they could pull off something extraordinary, expecting the film to create magic at the box office. Yesterday, 'NTR Mahanayakudu' premiers were held in North America. The movie has opened to mixed reviews from all quarters with audiences largely being unimpressed with what Mahanayakudu had to offer. People were left with the impression that Nandamuri Balakrishna attempted to glorify his brother-in-law and TDP supremo, Chandrababu Naidu, ignoring the darker side of his role in dethroning NTR.

As much as the TDP hopes that some phases of history would be whitewashed or sanitised for the younger generation, it is not easy to take the audience for a ride, if a biopic tries to peddle half-truths. Chandrababu tweeted on Thursday saying that the younger generation needed to be educated on NTR suggesting that Mahanayakudu presented an authentic picture. He asked people not be misled by 'conspiracies' distorting facts. In response, director Ram Gopal Varma ran a poll on the microblogging site, Twitter, in which an overwhelming majority of respondents said that his biopic would present the truth and was not a conspiracy Balakrishna's dilemma is a understandable. Mahanayakudu , to be a truthful bio-pic would have to focus to a very large extent on Chandrababu's scheming to dislodge NTR. The negative shades of the TDP chief portraying Chandrababu's manipulative skills would have to be shown truthfully. In avoiding these aspects, Balayya turned his legendary father's bio-pic into a bland version shorn of many facts. The end result is clear. The film is proving to be a bitter pill for the makers to swallow at the box office, from early reports.

Balakrishna could have taken a leaf out of Keerthy Suresh's Mahanati which is a biopic of Savitri and Mammooty's performance as the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 'Yatra'. Both the movies performed well at the box office.

A movie buff had an interesting take on 'NTR Mahanayakudu' . He took to his twitter handle to share his personal opinion about the movie. His Twitter post says satirically that 'NTR Mahanayakudu' is actually a CBN biopic. Sources predict that 'NTR Mahanayakudu' would barely survive at the ticket counters in the coming days. Check out this tweet:

'NTR Mahanayakudu' directed by Krish also features Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Rana Daggubati amongst others.
