Yatra Beats Mahanati, NTR Kathanayakudu
Malayalam actor Mammootty is a man of the moment. His latest movie Yatra is expected to have a dream run at the box office. Yatra is a hagipgraphy of late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy who served as the Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. This seems to be the season of biopics as every film industry out there—Telugu, Hindi and Tamil are minting profits at the box office. Biopic is the flavour of the season. Yatra is on a record-breaking spree at the box office. Yatra is the third biopic (not entirely though) in Telugu after Mahanati and NTR biopic Kathanayakudu which was made in two parts. The first part NTR Kathanayakudu became a dud at the box office.
Yatra which successfully completed the premieres in North America hit theatres across the globe on Friday. Reliable sources inform us that Yatra tickets are selling like hot cakes in a few of the online portals following positive reports about the movie. May we add that the film has earned the best rating from critics and audiences which is making people rush to theatres to witness the tale of YSR.
Yatra has reached a new milestone on the very next day of its opening day. The filmmakers must be now gearing up to celebrate the success of the movie. Yatra has set a new record online. IMDB is an online database of films which rates movies based on their content, audiences viewership and popularity. The same site IMDB has given a 9.8 rating for Yatra which is a big feat for any Telugu movie. Several movies were released but none of the movies have garnered such high rating on IMDb. Mammootty's Yatra has achieved it. Not just that, wait till you hear this. The film has even surpassed Keerthy Suresh's Mahanati and Balakrishna's NTR Kathanayakudu in terms of rating. Check out the picture of three movie ratings on IMDb here.
Yatra is directed by Mahi V. Raghav and produced by the 70mm Entertainments banner. The film cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Suhasini and Anasuya Bhardwaj in key roles besides Mammootty.
