Jr. NTR, Vijay Deverakonda And Prabhas: Superstars With Stylish Bearded Look
If one goes through the journey of Tollywood tracing the look heroes sported over the past seven decades, an interesting fact emerges. Stars of the 50s, 60s and early 70s—Akkineni Nageswara Rao, NT Rama Rao, Jaggiah, Krishna and Sobhan Babu, among others, sported a clean-shaven look. This was the norm in Tamil cinema, as well as seen in the films their two top stars, MG Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganeshan. Bollywood was no different. Raj, Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajendra Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar and Joy Mukherjee, in the 60s and Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in the 70s. These stars among others, also stuck to a clean-shaven look which endeared them to their fans back then.
In the eighties, Chiranjeevi, Krishnam Raju and other stars who joined their seniors also had mass appeal because of their shaven look. Their Tamil counterparts Rajinikanth, Vijaykanth and Karthik, to name a few, also followed this trend.
In recent years, the trend changed completely with stars sporting a stubble or beard. Look at Prabhas in Baahubali to see what we mean. Similarly, Jr. NTR is a huge hit with the audiences because of his stubble in some films and a beard in others. A casual glance at his look in Nannakku Prematho and Ram Charan's stubble in Rangasthalam reveals this.
Vijay Deverakonda has sported the casual, boy next door look in his films Arjun Reddy, Taxiwala and NOTA. With his week-old stubble, he has been a rage among rural and urban audiences alike.
Does this mean women today prefer men with rugged look sporting a stubble? Who is your kind of man? The one with a clean shaven look or the one with a stubble?
