Sridevi Awarded Best Actress at IIFA, Posthumously
At the 2018 IIFA awards held in Bangkok, Sridevi was posthumously awarded the Best Actress award for her role in ‘Mom’. Her husband, Boney Kapoor, received the award on her behalf.
The nominees also included Vidya Balan for ‘Tumhari Sulu’(which won the best film award), Alia Bhatt for ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, Bhumi Pednekar for ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ and Zaira Wasim for ‘Secret Superstar’.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui who won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award also dedicated his award to late Sridevi, who was his ‘Mom’ co-star.
“It was once in a lifetime opportunity to work wid d first female superstar @SrideviBKapoor & I dedicate my award as a tribute to her.” He tweeted.
In the film, Sridevi plays as Devki, a biology teacher, who seeks help from DK, a private detective, after her stepdaughter's rapists are acquitted by the court and vows to seek revenge against the culprits.
Sridevi was found dead, drowned in a bathtub in Dubai on 24th February this year.
