Elevation to Purandheswari in Union Ministry

Obviously, succumbing to the pressure, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today allocated an independent charge to Daggubati Purandheswari, the Visakhapatnam MP and till now the Minister of State (MoS) for Industry and Commerce in his Cabinet.

Purandheswari was unhappy that she was not elevated to the Cabinet rank in the recent reshuffle or at least given an Independent charge in her same capacity as MoS. She was initially tipped to be elevated either to the Cabinet rank or will be given an independent charge.

But except that there was a change in her portfolio from Human Resource Development to Industry and Commerce there was no promotion to her.
Purandheswari is stated to have expressed unhappiness at the development with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and she is today given an independent charge of the Textile Ministry, of course in her capacity as the MoS.
The MoS of Textiles was held by another MoS from the State Panabaka Lakshi. In the reshuffle she was shifted from the Textiles portfolio to Petroleum as MoS.
