Apollo Vice Chairperson Returned To India To Cast Vote Only To Find Her Name Missing

Shobhana Kamineni - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Apollo Hospitals vice-chairperson Shobhana Kamineni, daughter of Apollo Hospitals chief Dr Pratap Reddy finds her name deleted from the voters' list for the Lok Sabha elections. She says she has flown down to India from a trip abroad to exercise her franchise, but instead found her name struck out of the electoral roll.

Voting for the first phase of Parliamentary elections is underway in Telangana.

She went to cast her vote in the Masab Tank polling booth, where she had also cast her vote for the Telangana Assembly elections on December 7. She says that her name was registered on the list when she checked it last week.

"I came back to India from an abroad trip because I wanted to exercise my franchise. And I come to the booth and I am told that my vote is deleted," says an anguished Kamineni.

The former CII chief says that the officials told her that she could vote in the EVM but her vote would be not counted.

"They told me just to make you happy, you can put something, but it will not be counted. So, who is everyone trying to fool here? Are we not citizens? Do we not count. I feel cheated," she added.
