Over 11K Cops Gear Up for Polling In Krishna District

Vijayawada: As Andhra Pradesh gears up for simultaneous Parliamentary and Assembly polls on Thursday, over 11,000 police personnel have been deployed in Krishna district to ensure smooth polling.

Vijayawada commissionerate has put forth around 5,500 personnel under its jurisdiction.

Addressing a press conference, Krishna district SP Sarvasreshtha Tripathi said that in all polling booths prohibitory orders under Section 30 of Police Act and Section 144 of CrPC were promulgated.

There will be 2,700 cameras in all polling booths.

Vijayawada CP Tirumala Rao said that all 1,588 polling stations will be monitored by special strike force and few problematic areas have also been identified where armed police contingents will be placed.

Around 10 check posts have been put at all entry and exit points in the city including Prakasam Barrage and Kanaka Durga Varadhi.

The CP also said that every police station will be given 45 strike force personnel and 158 mobile parties will operate within Vijayawada commissionerate.
