Telugu Techies Will Lock Horns With Modi in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi - Sakshi Post

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will see competition from two Techies from the Telugu states in the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh. This will be to highlight the fluoride issue in their native districts of Nalgonda in Telangana State and Prakasam in Andhra Pradesh.

A native of Kodad in Suryapet District, Jalagam Sudheer and a native of Botlagudur village of Pamujru mandal in Prakasham district Vadde Srinivasulu, have filed nominations from the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency represented by Modi. Modi seeks re-elections from this constituency.

If the poll results are in their favour, the two Telugu Techies are planning to field a minimum of at least 2 fluoride victims from two districts in Varanasi to highlight the plight of fluorosis victims at the national level.

While speaking to a local Daily, US returned Jalagam Sudheer said that even though 8 acres of land were acquired for the Fluoride Research and Monitor Centre at Choutuppal, the central government has stalled its progress. The government forwarded the land to the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), which was appointed as the nodal agency for the Centre.

He explained about the factors that have to be looked into to file papers for nomination, and said that at least 10 voters have proposed the candidature of each candidate to file nominations in the Varanasi Constituency. The number of fluoride victims filing nomination papers in the constituency would be based on the availability of proposers, Sudheer said, adding that he had met Srinivasulu at a meeting and they had decided to join hands to highlight the Flouride problem in the two districts in their respective States.

As per the Election commissions schedule, mominations to be filed for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituencies would begin on April 22. Srinivasulu has been regularly visiting the 8 flouride affected assembly constituencies in Prakasam, to get to know their problems. While pursuing a full time Job at a private IT firm in Bengaluru, he takes time out to spend time working on the issue of fluoride menace in the district. He also heads the Veligonda Project Sadhana Samithi.

“The pathetic condition of fluorosis victims in Kanigiri Mandal where my native place is located prompted me to do something for the victims,” he said, adding that there were 10,91,394 fluorosis victims in Andhra Pradesh. “The Fluorosis victims, who fall sick frequently, are denied medical facilities making their lives miserable,” he said.
