Chandrababu Resorting To Malicious Propaganda Driven By Fear Of Defeat
By Kommineni Srinivasa Rao
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has come up with a new strategy. Instead of talking about his achievements, or delivery on the promises he made in the 2014 elections, the TDP chief is expending all his energies in criticism against YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
His virulent attacks against the AP Leader of Opposition reflect his weak state of mind, as also his fears. In 2014, he had tried a similar ploy to mislead the people and used his favourite media outlets to spew poison as he desired.
The TDP supremo is once again adopting similar tactics. If one has to gauge as to how low a politician can stoop in public life, there could be no better example than Chandrababu.
Perhaps the meanest kind of politics are exemplified by the Andhra Pradesh chief minister who makes the most irresponsible statements such as YS Jagan is equivalent to a street gangster and that policemen would refuse to accept formal complaints when he becomes chief minister.
What Chandrababu Naidu seems to forget is that this is precisely what is happening in his regime today. The state police have been reduced to puppets of the ruling party.
Over the past five years, it was the YSR Congress Party workers who were murdered. To which party did workers killed in Kurnool and Anantapur districts belong? Who killed Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy? Who was responsible for the brutal murder of Vijay Bhaskar Reddy? Who created the Visakhapatnam land-grabbing mafia? Didn’t minister Ayannapathrudu himself lodge a complaint about land grabbing in Visakhapatnam? Is it not a fact that not a single case was filed after 29 people died in the Godavari Pushkarams? Who was responsible for the disappearance of the CCTV footage? Can there be a bigger crime? Is it not a fact that Additional DG of Intelligence, AB Venkaeswara Rao has come to be associated with the ruling party to the extent that he has become a target of criticism by the Opposition? Does Chandrababu want us to believe that all is well under his regime? It may be recalled that in the past, Chandrababu Naidu made similar statements about the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
He gained some political mileage out of such propaganda in 1999. However, in 2004, Dr YSR led the Congress to victory in undivided AP. In 2014, he carried out a similar negative campaign against YS Jagan which did have an impact to some extent.
But the people are not prepared to fall for such propaganda anymore as one can see from the sparse crowds attending the TDP supremo’s election rallies.
In contrast, when YS Jagan addresses election rallies in scorching heat, huge gatherings throng the place.
The Telugu Desam media however, tries to mislead its readers and viewers by referring to other things. The yellow media makes no reference to Chandrababu Naidu’s overnight flight from Hyderabad after he was caught red-handed in the vote for note case.
What did the Dharmavaram MLA Vardhapuram Suri say recently? Elect the TDP and kill anyone you want, indulge in any kind of violence for the next six months! One need not elaborate on the atrocities committed by Dendaluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar who has been given the TDP ticket, again.
Doesn’t Chandrababu Naidu how many cases there are against him? Why are TDP government leaders protecting the principal accused in the IT Grids data theft case? There are several such instances.
Sujana Chowdary, who defaulted on loans to the extent of Rs 6000 crores and GST of Rs 500 crores is TDP’s star campaigner. Similarly, the ruling party MLC Vakati Narayan Reddy went to prison after swindling hundreds of crores while yet another MLA Deepak Reddy is facing serious landgrabbing charges.
Chandrababu Naidu makes sure that the corrupt activities and atrocities of his MLAs are insulated from public glare by keeping them out of a few media outlets. At the same time, he unleashes a blitzkrieg of negative propaganda against the Leader of Opposition.
Chandrababu Naidu created Janmabhoomi mafias in each village which are tormenting the common folk everywhere.
The people of the state have seen through this and it is out of this fear that the AP chief minister has taken to offence viewing it as the best form of defence. But the common man cannot be fooled all the time.
