EC Reserves Order on SP Pariwar’s Symbol Struggle

The Baap-Beta war in Uttar Pradesh has reached a critical stage on Friday, with the Central Election Commission reserving its order in the hearing of the party symbol case involving both the Samajwadi Party factions. At the end of the hearing, which last for over four hours on Friday, the EC has announced a January 17 deadline to give its decision in the matter.

Both Mulayam Singh faction and Akhilesh Yadav faction have laid claims to cycle symbol. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav faction exuded confidence that it would get the cycle symbol.

Earlier, Samajwadi chief Mulayam Singh, his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav and a team of lawyers met the election commissioner and argued their case. Akhilesh Yadav's lawyers and his supporters Ramgopal Yadav, Kiranmoy Nanda and Naresh Agarwal also presented their case.
