EAMCET-2 leakage: CID arrests 3 culprits
Hyderabad: CID officials on Thursday announced the arrest of three culprits in connection with EAMCET-2 leakage case. Consultant Vishnudhar, broker Tirumal and another person have been arrested. The CID department is further investigating into the details of the key person involved in the leakage of EAMCET test paper. Police are searching for the person, who handed over the question paper from the printing press.

CID started investigation into the leakage of EAMCET-2 from July 25. The CID had registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and other provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair means) Act, 1997, after it found in its preliminary inquiry that there was prima facie a case for registering an FIR.
“Paper was leaked to 30 students, who gave Rs10 lakh each as advance. Paper was leaked from printing press in Delhi. The question paper was given to students in Mumbai and Benguluru two days ahead of the exam,” said CID officials.

EAMCET-2 was conducted on July 9 and the results were declared on July 14. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, conducted the examination.

Brokers have collected Rs40 lakhs from each student. Student camps were organized in five cities. 25 students along with parents taken to Benguluru. Paper was leaked to students in unidentified places. CID has confirmed the leakage of two sets of question papers. The CID officials are searching for several brokers and sub-brokers involved in this case. It’s learnt that some students were kept at resorts and other places in Hyderabad as well.
Police have identified 24 students, those who couldn’t perform well in EAMCET-1, with better ranks in EAMCET-2. EAMCET Convener Ramana Rao met with DGP and CID Chief and discussed on leakage issue.

Meanwhile consultant Vishnudhar and broker Tirumal who were arrested by the police were produced before the magistrate. They were subsequently sentenced them to 14 days remand.
