Drunken driving cases against 258 in Hyderabad


Traffic police registered cases against 258 persons, including a woman, last week during a drive against drunken driving in the city.

The police detained 75 four wheelers, 171 two wheelers and 12 autos whose divers were found drunk while driving, said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) C V Anand today. He said so far 8,416 cases of drunk driving have been registered since the drive was launched ten months ago. The drunken drivers had been asked to pay fines ranging from Rs 2,000 to 3,000 and made to attend sessions where they were told about traffic safety rules, Anand said.
