Drunkard Sets Houses on Fire In Rajahmundry

Rajahmahendravaram: A man, who has been giving sleepless nights to people by setting thatched houses on fire in the city, was arrested by the Prakashnagar police in Rajahmahendravaram, East Godavari district.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Pragada Ramakrishna alias Sonibabu, a native of Visakhapatnam. Ramakrishna has been working in a plastic store and residing in Venkatagiri locality along with his parents for the past a few years.

A complete alcoholic, Ramakrishna usually picks up fight with people in the locality, the police informed. Developing grouse over the people, he sets the thatched houses on fire during midnights. So far, he set afire 12 houses in and around Rajamahendravaram, Bommaru and Ramanagaram localities in the city. Recently, a wholesale vegetable store in VL Puram was set on fire. Following a complaint from the owner, the police swung into action and nabbed the accused. The police have recovered a cell phone, matchbox and a SIM card from him.
