Dowry Harassment Case: Wife Set Afire By Husband

Madanpalle: In a case of dowry harassment, a woman was brutally attacked by her husband and set her ablaze by dousing with kerosene in Kurabala Kota mandal here on Thursday. According to police, Shamina (20), daughter of Syed Basha, a resident of Nandireddypalle in Angallu Panchayati got married with SK Ismail, who is a resident of Angallu about five months ago.

"Shamina was harassed by her in-laws from the day she was married. She has been harassed by her husband Ismail, mother-in-law Reddybu and father-in-law Dastagiri to bring additional dowry from her parents. They all had a spat on Thursday afternoon regarding the matter. At around 7 pm, Ismail doused Shamina and set her on fire. Shamina received severe burn injuries. While doctors claim 80 per cent of her body was burnt, she is struggling for life," Madanapalle SI Venkateshwarlu informed.

After knowing about the incident, locals in the village immediately informed to the police. The police have rushed to the spot and shifted her to the local government hospital. A case has been registered on Ismail and his parents and the investigation has begun.
