Doctors Administer Fungus-Infected Saline To 11-Year-Old Boy

Hyderabad: An 11-year-old who was admitted for seizures on Wednesday at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital and Research Centre (DDHRC) in Vidyanagar was allegedly administered fungus-infected saline.

Krishna Prasad, a class 7 boy from Ram Nagar was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday around 10pm when the doctors began administering him saline. However, Krishna's uncle, who found something strange in the saline bottle, alerted the staff. But they did not respond.

He then lodged a complaint with the police against the hospital resident medical officer and other doctors. The Nallakunta police seized the saline bottle and sent it for lab examination. The boy was then shifted to another hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made yet.

Earlier, a similar case was registered in Jangaon where a seven-year-old girl Prabhalika died when a saline with insects was administered to her.
