Do not burden the common man: YS Vijayamma

Do not burden the common man: YS Vijayamma - Sakshi Post

The honorary president of the YSR Congress Party, Y.S. Vijayamma expressed her deep concern over the government's decision  to increase the bus fares.

She demanded that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy roll back the  increase in RTC bus fares immediately as the decisionn was not in the interest of the common man.
Stating that the government had no concern for the poor and their problems, she said the fact that the Assembly session concluded yesterday without transacting any business, proved this. To make matters worse the government is now all set to increase the bus fares to burden the masses  further.
It has become common for the state and central governments to take decisions against the public. But the late Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy never increased the bus fares by a single paisa, nor did he bring about a hike in diesel prices. He did not impose any taxes on the suffering masses during his 5 years and 3 months of rule, Vijayamma recalled.

On one side, the Central government has  increased the diesel and gas fares by saying that the petrol industries were incurring huge losses. At the same time, the state government is collecting Rs.1.50 of tax per liter by taking advantage of the centre's decision on the hike in diesel prices. The state government will gain benefit to the tune of Rs. 500 crores with the increased diesel price hike. To top it all,  the state government is increasing the bus fares weighing the common man down, Vijayamma said.

She lamented that both the Rosaiah government and Kiran Kumar Reddy's government put the state on the course set by  Chandrabu Naidu who took many anti-people decisions. The  governments that succeeded Dr.YSR merely paid lip-service to the people while filling their pockets,  she added. This was evident from the hike in power charges, the cap on fee reimbursement and the hike in diesel prices, not to speak of the government's move to raise APSRTC bus fares.

She said that the government's decision to give an unwanted power holiday has already pushed several small-scale units, already living on wafer-thin profit margins, into the red and lakhs of dailywagers across the state have lost their jobs so far.  This clearly proved that the government agenda is not to  provide power but tax the public for the little power that is provided.

Vijayamma also criticized the government saying that it has the dubious distinction of increasing the fertilizer rates from 300 to 800 per cent which only goes to show how much it cared for farmers.
Finally, she added that the central government and mainly the state government should not continue in power and if  given an opportunity, the public will teach them a lesson, she said.

She concluded saying that the YSRCP  seriously condemned the government's anti-people decisions on behalf of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is YSR's successor and the undisputed leader of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
