Hyderabad: From 1 January 2016, cable TV in Greater Hyderabad will be completely digitized thereby making DTH or set top box compulsory for every TV.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has set a deadline till December 31 to make the necessary changes. So far two deadlines were given for the installation of set top boxes.

Recently third deadline for digitized TV was set to Multi System Operation (MSO). Analog TV will be completely replaced by digital TV from January.

Greater Hyderabad has approximately 25 lakh TV connections. MSOs like Hathway, Digi Cable, Citi Cable, RVR, Bagyanagar and InDigital have so far installed 13 lakh STB connections.
