DGP Replaces Chief of SIT Formed to Probe Nayeem’s Activities
Hyderabad: Barely hours after stating that CID IG Soumya Mishra would head the Special Investigations Team that is to probe the illegal activities of the deceased gangster Nayeem and his associates, the Director General of Police Anurag Sharma on Tuesday night announced that it would be Y Nagi Reddy who would be heading the SIT now.
Explaining the reason for this change, the DGP, as quoted by the Times of India, said “Since Nagi Reddy is the IG of the area (Hyderabad Zone) and most of the investigating officers probing the cases related to Nayeem are from his jurisdiction, we thought he will be better suited to head the SIT.”
The SIT includes Cyberabad additional DCP, Crimes, B Srinivasa Reddy, Begum Bazar inspector Sridhar, Uppal inspector (traffic) S Sudhakar, Wanaparthy circle inspector (CI) Shakir Hussain, Korutla CI Rajashekar Raju, Inspector, CCS Sangareddy, Samala Venkatesh, Kodad CI P Madhusudhan Reddy and Armoor CI Seetharam.
As revealed earlier, the SIT is to probe into the various criminal activities of the deceased gangster and his known associates, particularly into the evidence procured as a result of police raids after Nayeem’s death.
The police had found heaps of land and property documents, arms, ammunition and explosives beside stashes of cash during the raid.
Intelligence agencies are also making inquiries into his political affiliations and alliances that he made use of in the past.
