Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma on Monday ordered an inquiry into the incident in which a minor boy was reportedly chained by police at Wardhannapet Police Station in Warangal district in the state. The Director General of Police also ordered immediate suspension of a Sub Inspector allegedly involved in the incident.

The Telangana Police Chief ordered DIG (Warangal Range) B Malla Reddy for immediate suspension of Krishna Kumar, the Sub Inspector of Police of Wardhannapet Police Station in the incident that took place on Saturday night.

According to reports, a 12-year-old boy, studying in class V at a government school, was brought to the police station by some locals on Saturday, after he allegedly tried to steal things from a fancy store near the hostel at Wadhannapet. Although the police did not find any evidence against the boy to book a case, they chained him and kept him at the police station. He was subsequently released on Sunday, the reports claimed.
All District Police Officers have been instructed to ensure professional Station House management in their jurisdictions, according to an official statement.
