Despite Hudhud, Vizag in high 'spirits' on New Year
If you thought that Vizag has lost much of its sheen due to the deadly Hudhud, think again.
Vizag spent close to Rs 15 crore on liquor alone on December 31.
The city, which is yet to come out of the Hudhud havoc turned to Bacchus worship on New Year eve.
The state government earned a record Rs 15 crore through the sale of liquor in the last two days. The sale of liquor was up by over 5 crore as compared to the previous year 2014.
The sales in some liquor shops are so high that liquor went out of stock soon after the shops opened. Even in Kurnool, the story is same. Beers worth 2 crore has been sold in the last two days.
