Depressed Over His Physical Appearance, BTech Student Commits Suicide

The 18-year-old student was a native of Khammam district and was pursuing BTech in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: An 18-year-old BTech student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room at Bibinagar here apparently after being depressed over his physical appearance, police said on Monday.
G Gopichand, a first-year student was found hanging in his room with a cloth around his neck which was tied to a iron rod of the ceiling by his roommate at 12.30 pm, Bibinagar Police Station SHO D Suresh Kumar said. A suicide note purportedly written by Gopichand was found in the room which stated "no one is responsible for my death and it is self-inflicted death."
Gopichand, who is a native of Khammam district in Telangana had attempted suicide in December last year by consuming some poisonous substance used to kill rats, but was rescued by some locals then, the SI said adding based on preliminary investigation it was found that Gopichand was under depression over his physical appearance. A case under section 174 CrPC was registered and probe is on, the officer said.
