Demand to end thefts in temples, BJP activists held - Sakshi Post

Several BJP, RSS and VHP activists were taken into custody in Hyderabad today when they tried to lay siege to the Endowments Commissioner’s office in Koti area of the city demanding immediate steps to put an end to the series of thefts in temples in the State.

Alleging that the State Government was not taking any measures to put an end to the thefts despite several such incidents having been reported from different parts of the State, a large number of BJP, RSS and VHP staged a sit-in before the commissioner’s office.

Later, when they tried to barge into the office, the police swung into action and took the agitators into custody. The area witnessed some tense moments for sometime. Before the situation went out of control, the police arrested the protestors and shifted them to the nearby police station. The arrested were later let off after producing personal bonds.
Talking to media persons later, they said that thefts have been taking place in the recent past in temples in various parts of the State, including in the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The State Government has miserably failed to check the increasing menace and today’s agitation is only aimed at drawing the ruling party’s attention to their demand of immediate halt to such incidents, they added.
