Delay In NEET Counseling In Telangana To Benefit AP
Hyderabad: The Telangana doctors association and MBBS aspirants in the state are worried due to the delay in NEET counselling as it would lead the AP students to occupy the 15 percent unreserved seats in Telangana. The NEET counselling for AP students began on Wednesday which will be conducted by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences.
The counselling in Telangana is getting delayed due to mistakes that took place in NEET rankings compiled by the state government. It may take some time to sort the things out.
As per the presidential order, students from TS and AP can apply for seats in their own states and the 15 per cent unreserved quotas in another state. Due to the issue, the association is worried that the delay in counselling will fill all the unreserved seats in Telangana. The doctors association had already demanded the Telangana government to conduct the counselling for both the states on the same day. They also demanded the government to start the counselling as soon as possible or else AP should postpone their counselling.
"If we delay counselling, then AP aspirants will apply first to AP medical colleges. If we do it first, all of them will come here. If we delay, some of them will join colleges in AP and may not be inclined to shift here as they will lose their university fee, which is not transferable," Vice Chancellor of the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences Dr Karunakar Reddy said.
Goof-up In State NEET Ranks Causes Delay
The aspirants were shocked to see their ranks which were compiled by the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences on Monday.
The list showed different ranks for the students who secured equal marks. A student secured all India 43,757 rank for 459 marks while his state rank was 1,910. Another student who secured all India 44,146 rank for 459 marks as he got 1,896 as state rank.
The university Vice Chancellor Dr. Karunakar Reddy said it was just a system error by the CBSE and it is being sorted out. He said the revised ranks will be uploaded on the website soon. He urged the candidates not to worry as it was not the merit list.
